The Applied Science of Sniffing Games

We bridge the gap between laboratory comparative cognition and real-world enrichment. By developing evidence-based interactive games, we provide objective methods for assessing psychological welfare and improving canine cognitive health through olfactory engagement and research-led interventions.

Sniff for Joy!

These simple, science‑informed sniffing games invite dogs to use their noses, make choices, and explore their environment in a safe, structured way. They were developed during my PhD research in the Human-Animal Interaction Lab as low‑pressure, welfare‑focused activities that support positive emotion, build confidence, and give dogs more agency in everyday life. Guardians can use them at home or in dog‑friendly spaces to turn routine time into meaningful, dog‑centered experiences.
